Do you remember wishing you could live in a pineapple under the sea? Even if that dream has faded, you might still crave a Krabby Patty. Wendy’s might be making that dream come true.
In late August, a Reddit post on the r/Spongebob subreddit went viral. The post claimed to show a leaked internal memo from Wendy’s and Paramount, suggesting a collaboration to create a real-life Krabby Patty.
According to the memo, “Starting October 8, Wendy’s will bring the magic of SpongeBob SquarePants to life! To celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, Wendy’s will introduce a version of SpongeBob’s iconic Krabby Patty in a special collaboration with Paramount.” The memo states this will be a limited-time offering for “adult consumers and fans” in the U.S., Canada, and Guam.
The memo also reveals that Wendy’s will launch a new Frosty flavor called the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty. The meal will feature the Krabby Patty, described as a “premium cheeseburger” with “fresh produce and a secret Krabby Patty Sauce,” alongside the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, which combines vanilla with Pineapple Mango Puree. The meal will also come with Hot & Crispy fries.
To promote the launch, Wendy’s plans extensive media coverage, including TV ads, earned media (like this article), and new restaurant merchandise. There will also be a limited number of exclusive SpongeBob stickers for employees to distribute.
The memo mentions the promotion will end on November 11.
Despite the excitement, the official status of this promotion remains uncertain. Wendy’s responded to inquiries by saying, “While we can’t confirm what’s coming down Wendy’s innovation pipeline, we are always exploring new menu items inspired by our fans’ cravings. We will update you when we have more news.”
For now, fans are ready to say, “Order up!”
