A new McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant is on track to open in Highbridge next week, with construction progressing as planned. The fast-food chain is set to welcome customers on Wednesday, September 11.
Final preparations are underway at the site, located at the entrance to Oak Tree Business Park beside the A38 Bristol Road.
Reports from Burnham-On-Sea.com indicate that both McDonald’s and Greggs received planning permission for their new outlets last year.
Construction workers are currently completing the finishing touches, and a McDonald’s spokesperson confirmed that the opening date remains set for September 11. The new restaurant is expected to create approximately 120 jobs, with recruitment already in progress.
The plans for the new McDonald’s include a drive-thru and a restaurant with parking for over 30 vehicles. Next door, a new Greggs outlet is also under construction, although its opening date has yet to be announced.
Community Support
The development has received backing from the Burnham Without Parish Council, which stated that the land is designated for business and employment uses. They noted that the proposals are unlikely to negatively impact the area, provided that the highway authority approves the access arrangements.
With the opening just days away, residents and potential employees are eager to see the new McDonald’s and the opportunities it will bring to the community.
