Wendy’s is reportedly teaming up with Paramount, the owner of “SpongeBob SquarePants” through Nickelodeon, to launch a real-life Krabby Patty burger this fall. The new burger is expected to debut alongside a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, a sweet treat inspired by the iconic cartoon character’s home.
According to Popverse, an internal memo sent to select Wendy’s locations revealed details of the collaboration. The Krabby Patty burger will feature real meat and a secret “Krabby Patty Sauce” designed to capture the essence of the beloved fictional sandwich. Neither Wendy’s nor Paramount have officially confirmed the partnership.
For those unfamiliar with the cartoon, the Krabby Patty was a meatless marvel made from seaweed buns and a patty of mysterious origins. It was also the target of Plankton’s devious schemes to uncover the secret formula.
If the collaboration comes to fruition, it could mark a historic pairing of food and entertainment. The promotion is expected to run from October 8 to November 11, with the Krabby Patty available at participating Wendy’s locations across the U.S., Canada, and Guam.
The news of the potential partnership comes as fast-food chains introduce deals and limited-time offers to attract consumers facing the effects of inflation. Wendy’s is already part of a special campaign where customers can purchase a keychain for $3 to get a Jr. Frosty with any order until the end of the following year, with proceeds benefiting children’s adoptions.
Despite the economic challenges, Wendy’s has been performing well. Its $3 breakfast bundle has gained popularity among U.S. consumers, prompting the company to invest millions to keep the breakfast menu available through 2025. CEO Kirk Tanner believes breakfast represents a significant opportunity, with each location potentially generating about $3,000 weekly from breakfast sales alone.
