Burger King Korea has launched a unique seasonal campaign called “Whopper Tattoo” as part of its “Flame-Grilled Taste” project, which celebrates the brand’s 40th anniversary in the country.
From July to August, people could get a Whopper Tattoo designed by professional artists, featuring flame-inspired patterns with embedded barcodes. The temporary tattoos, made with cosmetic-grade ink, could be printed instantly by the “Tattoo King” in popular locations like Haeundae, Busan and Gangnam, Seoul.
After getting inked, customers could visit a nearby Burger King restaurant and scan their tattoo at the kiosk to win a free upgraded Whopper and a soft drink. The tattoos, which last 2-3 days, are washable or disappear naturally.
The campaign received enthusiastic responses, with around 8,000 people getting the tattoo, including residents, tourists, and influencers. 92% of participants recognized the newly upgraded Whopper through the campaign, and Burger King restaurants saw a sales increase of up to 208% during the promotion compared to the previous week.
“With the Whopper Tattoo, we hope to offer our customers a unique opportunity to experience our delicious new Whopper,” said a Burger King Korea marketing representative.
