Arby’s Foundation recently demonstrated its commitment to community support by donating $4,100 to the Watertown Area People Against Child Hunger (PACH) program. This contribution aims to bolster the program’s efforts to combat child hunger.
The Watertown PACH program stands out for its approach in addressing food insecurity among local children. It provides easy-to-prepare meals and snacks to children who may lack adequate food at home, ensuring they have enough to eat over the weekends throughout the year.
Recently, PACH wrapped up a successful “Back PACH” food drive held from August 19 to 23. The program serves an average of 574 participants weekly, highlighting the significant need for such support in the community.
South Dakota is actively involved in tackling food insecurity statewide. Each September, the Hunger Action Month campaign raises awareness and promotes action to support the nearly 106,000 people experiencing food insecurity in the state. Governor Kristi Noem has officially recognized September as Hunger Action Month through an Executive Proclamation. This year, landmarks such as the Corn Palace and the Arc of Dreams will be illuminated in orange to show support. Residents are encouraged to wear orange on September 10 and share their photos on social media using the hashtag #HungerActionDay.
The Arby’s Foundation is dedicated to various community programs, including School’s Out, Food’s In, Good Citizen’s Month, and Chef’s Cycle. Since 1986, the foundation has donated over $100 million to youth-related causes.
Last week, Watertown Arby’s employees, led by location Manager Shelly Jensen-Brewster, presented a ceremonial check to PACH Board members Mallory Olsen and Jess Reihe-Waba at the Watertown Arby’s location.
