KFC And Kraft Heinz Collaborate on Comfort Food Combo Across Canada

by Nick

KFC Canada and Kraft Dinner (known in the U.S. as Kraft Mac and Cheese) have teamed up for the first time to create a unique culinary experience, blending their iconic flavors in a nationwide campaign. This collaboration is being introduced through a 360-degree advertising effort that is set to capture the attention of comfort food lovers across Canada.

The partnership will unveil three limited-edition products this summer, available both in grocery stores and KFC restaurants across the country. By August 19, Canadians will have the opportunity to taste the KD KFC Original Recipe Flavor Mac & Cheese, available in grocery stores nationwide. Additionally, two other creations, the KD Mac & Cheese Chicken Sandwich and the KFC x KD Mac & Cheese Snacker Wrap, will be served at KFC locations throughout Canada.

To promote this collaboration, a new commercial titled ‘It’s Finger Lickin’ KD’ has been launched, featuring KFC’s well-known mascot, Colonel Sanders. In the ad, Colonel Sanders is seen at the stove, mixing KFC’s secret herbs and spices into a pot of Kraft mac and cheese, all while Mozart’s Lacrimosa plays in the background, adding a dramatic flair to the scene.

“KD fans have always loved personalizing their mac & cheese with different flavors, and this partnership with KFC takes that to an exciting new level,” said Brian Neumann, head of brand communications at Kraft Heinz Canada. “Just as mac & cheese is synonymous with KD, fried chicken is instantly associated with KFC. This collaboration marks the first time these iconic flavors have been combined in such a unique way.”

The campaign, developed by Courage Inc., with Wavemaker handling the paid media and Zeno Group Canada managing influencer content, aims to merge the identities of both brands into a cohesive and exciting product offering.

“KFC and KD are both cultural icons with dedicated fanbases,” said Joel Holtby, founder and co-chief creative officer at Courage Inc. “Our goal was to create something that truly reflects the essence of both brands, sparking excitement among fans in a way that is unmistakably KFC and KD.”

To further build anticipation, KFC’s Colonel Sanders will make appearances at various locations and grocery stores around Toronto during the weekend of August 17-18, ahead of the official product launch. He will be showcasing a fresh take on his traditional white suit, adding a modern twist to the campaign’s launch events.
