McDonald’s France has playfully hinted at removing its Classic Curry dipping sauce following Steph Curry’s standout performance that led the United States to a 98-87 win over France in the men’s basketball final at the Paris Olympics.
On Sunday, the fast-food giant’s French Instagram account posted a message stating, “For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce.” This caption accompanied an image of the Classic Curry sauce. Within seven hours, the post garnered nearly 15,000 likes.
“This is a joke in reference to yesterday’s basketball game and Stephen Curry’s huge performance,” a McDonald’s France spokesperson told CNN via email.
Curry, 36, dazzled on Saturday by sinking eight 3-pointers. Notably, he nailed four crucial shots within a span of 2 minutes and 13 seconds late in the fourth quarter. France trailed by just three points with 2:58 remaining but couldn’t bridge the gap. The French team, boasting NBA talents like Victor Wembanyama, had previously lost to the U.S. 87-82 in the gold medal game at the 2021 Olympics in Japan.
