McDonald’s Set to Open in Early September; Taco Bell’s Opening Timeline Still Unclear.
Two popular fast food chains, McDonald’s and Taco Bell, are nearing the opening of their new locations in New Carlisle.
The new McDonald’s is being constructed on the out-lot in front of the IGA at 500 N. Main St., close to Haddix Park and its ball fields.
Meanwhile, Taco Bell is coming up just down the street at 408 N. Main St., where a vacant building was recently demolished to make room for the new restaurant.
“Most of the people I’ve spoken with are excited about having both restaurants in the city,” said Bryan Moore, the city’s planning director. “They’re glad they won’t have to drive to Park Layne and will have more sit-down options locally.”
McDonald’s to Open First
The McDonald’s, which broke ground in May, will be a 3,694 square-foot restaurant featuring indoor seating for 38 people, a double-lane drive-thru, and parking for 40 cars, including two accessible spaces. A 15-foot sign will also mark the location.
Construction teams have made significant progress, including grading the site, installing sewer and water lines, and continuing work on the building and lot.
“When you drive by, you can start to see the familiar McDonald’s shape taking form,” Moore noted.
According to recent updates, McDonald’s is expected to open its doors before the second week of September.
“There have been some construction challenges that delayed the start date by a couple of weeks, but overall, McDonald’s is getting close to completion,” Moore added.
This will be the first McDonald’s in New Carlisle’s general business district.
The restaurant has already begun hiring staff. Interested individuals can apply by texting “OH1185” to 38000. “This is a great opportunity for those seeking employment with benefits and tuition assistance. Plus, McDonald’s offers ESL programs for Spanish-speaking individuals,” Moore said.
Taco Bell Project Progressing
The Taco Bell will be a 2,053 square-foot building with entrances on Lake Avenue and Main Street. The location will feature a ground monument sign on Lake Avenue and a 15-foot sign on Main Street.
The previous structure on the site was demolished, and the new building will be positioned 12 feet south of the original location to accommodate utility easements.
Construction crews have leveled the ground, completed grading, and laid the footers for the new building, according to Moore.
The property, which was formerly owned by New Carlisle Federal Bank, is located next door to the bank.
Moore mentioned that he’s not aware of any significant challenges or delays with the Taco Bell project but noted that an official groundbreaking date has not yet been announced.
This will be the first Taco Bell in New Carlisle’s central business district.
