On August 8, Whataburger is marking its 74th anniversary, also known as National Whataburger Day. To celebrate, the popular fast-food chain is offering a special treat and giving back to teachers.
The highlight of the celebration is the Birthday Shake, a vanilla ice cream shake flavored like birthday cake, topped with whipped cream and orange sprinkles. This limited-edition shake will be available for free to Whataburger rewards members through the Whataburger app, while supplies last. The shake is also colored in Whataburger’s signature orange, aiming to provide a visually appealing experience for social media enthusiasts.
In a press release, Whataburger described the promotion as “inviting hundreds of thousands of your closest friends to your birthday party.” While this may lead to long lines at drive-thrus, the company is enthusiastic about the event.
In addition to the free shake, Whataburger is supporting education by pledging $74,000 worth of supplies to teachers.
Throughout August 8, followers on X (formerly Twitter) can nominate teachers in need of classroom supplies, and Whataburger will fulfill these requests until the funds are exhausted.
This charitable gesture highlights Whataburger’s commitment to making a positive impact, contrasting with McDonald’s viral “Grimace’s Birthday” campaign from last year, which focused more on promoting a mascot than on community support.
The Birthday Shake offer is exclusive to Whataburger app users, with one shake per rewards member.
