McDonald’s is experimenting with a new, larger burger called the Big Arch. This new addition is being tested in three international markets: Canada and Portugal. If these trials are successful, McDonald’s plans to release it more widely.
The Big Arch features two beef patties, three layers of cheese, crispy and slivered onions, pickles, lettuce, and a special Big Arch sauce. This substantial burger weighs 14 ounces and contains 1,065 calories, which is nearly the daily fat intake limit for an average adult.
By comparison, the Double Quarter Pounder, currently the largest burger in the U.S., is lighter at 8 ounces and 760 calories.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski discussed this new product during an earnings call, expressing optimism about a broader rollout if the burger performs well in the test markets.
McDonald’s Canada described the Big Arch as a classic McDonald’s burger with a twist, aiming to satisfy guests’ hunger.
This move reflects McDonald’s recognition of a customer trend favoring bigger burgers over premium options.
