McDonald’s Leads in Advertising Spending for $5 Meal Deal.
This summer, fast food giants like McDonald’s and Burger King are competing fiercely with meal deals. Their goal? To lure customers back to their restaurants. But to do so, they are investing heavily in marketing campaigns.
McDonald’s has taken the lead, spending approximately $8.4 million to promote its $5 meal deal, according to data from TV and streaming advertising firm iSpot, which was shared with Quartz. The fast food chain has run two national ads for the deal, one in English and another in Spanish. Overall, including other promotions, McDonald’s has invested about $13.1 million in TV advertisements.
The data from iSpot covers the period from June 25 to July 21, during which other fast food chains also launched similar $5 meal deal campaigns.
