A family-owned Arby’s restaurant on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood has permanently closed after 55 years in business. The closure follows California’s recent increase in the minimum wage to $20 per hour, as reported by the New York Post.
Gary Husch, the general manager and son-in-law of Marilyn Leviton who founded the restaurant in January 1969, attributed the closure to the higher wage requirements, along with rising inflation and food costs.
“I’m deeply sorry it had to end this way. I believe we served our community well for 55 years,” Leviton told KTLA-TV.
The minimum wage in California increased from $16 to $20 on April 1.
