For years, Chick-fil-A has been America’s favorite fast food restaurant, holding the top spot since 2023. However, a new contender has now taken the crown.
Chick-fil-A has been especially popular among Gen Z consumers. In 2023, USA Today named it the nation’s favorite fast food chain. The competition, which involves expert rankings and public voting, has been held annually by USA Today.
Last year, Chick-fil-A not only won the title but also topped a survey on fast food trends. The survey revealed that chicken is the most popular protein among customers. This trend prompted other fast food giants like McDonald’s, Burger King” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>Burger King, and Wendy’s to add more chicken items to their menus.
This year, however, the winner of the title is quite surprising. Del Taco, a Mexican fast food chain mainly found on the West Coast, has claimed the top spot.
USA Today’s 10 Best editors praised Del Taco, saying, “This popular taco stop, which serves all kinds of satisfying Mexican fare including burritos, quesadillas, and nachos, also offers burgers and fries. In addition, Del Taco has a dedicated breakfast menu, as well as a vegan and vegetarian menu.”
In this year’s ranking, kfc” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener” title=”KFC” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>KFC took second place, while Chick-fil-A was pushed to third.
