Lovers Lane: An inclusive tattoo shop opened its doors in late June at 611 Sunset St., Suite 101. Local tattoo artist Nina Kauffman started the shop after closing Golden Girl Tattoo Parlor, which was previously located at 1805 N. Elm St. This change followed the shutdown of The Never Sleep, formerly known as Golden Boy Coffee Co., after its employees walked out due to allegations of mismanagement.
Dick’s Sporting Goods: A new storefront recently opened at 2845 W. University Drive. The 50,000-square-foot store features sports attire, gear, golf bays with TrackMan technology, and an expanded selection of premium footwear.
The Tomato Pizza: This food truck resumed operations earlier this month at the Austin Street Truck Stop in downtown Denton. It had been closed since December when a fire broke out in the truck’s air conditioning unit.
District 21 Sports Kitchen: Formerly known as BoomerJack’s Grill, this sports bar located at 407 W. University Drive has rebranded as part of a broader initiative to expand across North Texas.
Fiesta Eats Hub: Milpa Kitchen & Cantina and Pepitas Vegan Taqueria are closing their storefronts to transition to a ghost kitchen model. Fiesta Eats Hub will operate out of Pepitas’ space at 1115 W. Hickory St., Suite 113, and will include Pepitas, Milpa, and Boca 31, which was closed by a fire.
Union Bear Brewing Co.: This new restaurant is set to open to the public this Tuesday at 221 S. Bell Ave., in the former Armadillo Ale Works building. The 18,000-square-foot facility has been distributing beer around the Dallas-Fort Worth area since February.
Tim Hortons: The popular Canadian coffee and doughnut shop is expected to open in Denton early in 2025. The first location will be at the intersection of West University Drive and Carroll Boulevard. This is part of an expansion into North Texas, with the first location opening in Coppell later this year.
African Grocery & Halal Meat: This store is set to open at 1431 E. McKinney St., Suite 150, in the space formerly occupied by Duino Coffeehouse.
Slick City Action Park: An indoor slide and action sports park will open at 2434 South Interstate 35E, the former location of Altitude Trampoline Park.
