Tim Hortons is gearing up for its annual Camp Day on July 17th, where all proceeds from hot and iced coffee sales will be donated to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. These camps aim to provide life-changing opportunities to underserved youth, helping them achieve their full potential. Since its inception 50 years ago, the foundation has supported over 320,000 young people through multi-year development programs.
Axel Schwan, President of Tim Hortons, expressed enthusiasm about celebrating the foundation’s 50th anniversary and its profound impact on empowering young individuals year after year. He emphasized that the growth opportunities and experiences offered at the seven Tims Camps are made possible through the support and generosity of restaurant owners and guests participating in the annual Camp Day campaign.
Camp Day originated in 1987 when 58 restaurant owners in Atlantic Canada donated a full day’s sales to the Tim Horton Children’s Camp in Tatamagouche, N.S. It expanded nationwide in 1991 and has since raised over $250 million, including $12.7 million last year alone.
Caroline Barham, President of Tim Hortons Foundation Camps and a restaurant owner herself, highlighted Camp Day as their most significant fundraiser, crucial for empowering youth to build their futures. She praised the dedication of restaurant owners and guests for making this initiative impactful and enjoyable.
Former camper Brandon Hayashi shared how his camp experience boosted his confidence during adolescence, fostering friendships and nurturing his environmental awareness. His positive experience at Tim Hortons Foundation Camps laid the groundwork for his journey through medical school.
Ways to support Tim Hortons Foundation Camps on Camp Day include purchasing hot or iced coffee, ordering a Tim Hortons Take 12 to share with others, buying a Camp Day bracelet or Donation Badge, and rounding up purchases on the Tim Hortons mobile app.
Camp Day also features a special Camp Day donut available at participating Canadian restaurants, with all proceeds supporting Tims Camps.
