McDonald’s is known for experimenting with unusual flavor combinations, and this summer, they’ve introduced the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry. This limited-time treat aims to blend the beloved Kit Kat with the classic flavors of a banana split, creating a unique dessert experience.
The McFlurry combines McDonald’s soft serve with pieces of Kit Kat bars, a banana split/strawberry flavor blend, dark and semi-sweet chocolate chips, freeze-dried banana pieces, and crispy rice-flavored strawberry clusters. Nutritional information reveals it packs 540 calories, 70 grams of sugar, and 17 grams of fat, positioning it between the Oreo and M&M McFlurries in calorie count.
Priced at $4.89, the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry is slightly more expensive than its counterparts, available exclusively through the McDonald’s app for a limited time starting July 10. It’s the priciest item on McDonald’s dessert menu presently.
In taste testing, the Kit Kat pieces provided a satisfying crunch and chocolatey flavor, complemented well by the chocolate chips. However, the strawberry clusters added a pleasant surprise with their crispy texture and bold flavor, despite some artificial taste notes. Unfortunately, the banana split aspect fell short, lacking a distinct banana flavor and overshadowed by artificial fruit notes.
Overall, while the Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry offers novelty with its mix-ins, focusing solely on Kit Kat flavors might have been more successful than attempting a banana split twist.
