Popeyes, renowned for its Louisiana-style chicken, is gearing up to open a new location in Dartford later this year. This announcement follows the recent inauguration of its fiftieth branch in Glasgow on June 22, marking a significant milestone for the fast food franchise.
The expansion plans for Popeyes in the UK include upcoming openings in Dartford, Wimbledon, Watford, Nottingham, Teal, and Merry Hill throughout the remainder of the year. Since its introduction to the UK from America in 2021, Popeyes has garnered widespread popularity, drawing massive queues at nearly every new location opening.
One notable instance was the grand opening of the Croydon branch in November 2023, which featured live music and performers. Customers were so eager that they began lining up from 4:30 PM the previous day.
Tom Crowley, CEO of Popeyes UK, expressed pride in the rapid growth of the brand, highlighting the acquisition of 50 new sites in just 30 months. This expansion includes the imminent debut of Popeyes’ first Northern Irish location in Belfast.
Crowley emphasized Popeyes UK’s position as the fastest-growing chicken Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brand in the country, boasting a remarkable 125% year-on-year growth from May 2023 to May 2024. He noted the sustained high demand for Popeyes in the UK, evidenced by consistent overnight queues at new openings since its inception.
Looking ahead, Popeyes remains committed to its expansion strategy, aiming to achieve new milestones and continue meeting the fervent appetite of fried chicken enthusiasts across the UK.
