McDonald’s Korea, the local branch of the global fast-food chain, has restarted selling french fries after a brief suspension last week due to concerns over the quality of frozen potatoes. The company announced the resumption of sales on Wednesday, following a pause initiated on June 20.
This isn’t the first time McDonald’s Korea has faced challenges with its french fries supply. Similar suspensions occurred in both 2021 and 2022, largely attributed to disruptions in the global supply chain exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response to economic pressures, McDonald’s Korea recently increased prices on 16 menu items by an average of 2.8 percent. Notably, the price of their iconic Big Mac rose from 6,900 won ($4.98) to 7,200 won.
The company’s decision to resume french fries sales comes as welcome news to customers who enjoy the popular side dish alongside their meals.
