According to police reports, the woman accompanying Joon allegedly established contact with him through a fabricated social media profile.

The CCTV footage of the incident, which emerged on Thursday, captured the woman engaged with Joon moments before two assailants opened fire, unleashing at least 38 bullets. The woman, also implicated in an extortion case linked to gangster Himashu Bhau, is believed to have lured Joon to the Burger King location where the fatal shooting occurred. Initial plans for a meeting in the north campus area were altered to Rajouri Garden upon Joon’s reluctance to travel far.

Authorities are viewing this incident within the context of an ongoing gang conflict involving incarcerated gangsters Neeraj Bawana and Ashok Pradhan. A fugitive gangster based in Spain, Himanshu Bhau, claimed responsibility for the killing on social media, citing retribution for the earlier murder of Bawana’s cousin, Shakti Singh, in October 2020. Allegedly, Joon had divulged information regarding Singh’s whereabouts to Pradhan, adding complexity to the motives behind the attack.

The CCTV footage depicts the assailants positioned behind Joon as he converses with the woman. Moments before the attack, she is seen showing something on her phone to Joon, after which the gunmen initiated the fatal assault. Amidst the chaos, Joon attempted to flee but was pursued and fatally shot multiple times by the assailants.

Investigations have revealed that the woman used a fake social media identity to establish contact with Joon. She is now a prime suspect, and law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing her. Hailing from Haryana’s Rohtak, she faces multiple criminal charges, including alleged involvement in an extortion attempt targeting a prominent Haryana sweetshop owner, a case purportedly linked to Himanshu Bhau.
