Fast food competition heats up as kfc” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener” title=”KFC” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>KFC joins the battle with Wendy’s over saucy chicken nuggets.
Recently, the fast food industry has been a battleground, with companies constantly launching new menu items to stay ahead. Whether it’s the chicken sandwich wars or the battle for the best value meal, the competition is fierce.
On the heels of Wendy’s new Saucy Nuggs release nationwide, KFC is stepping up its game. Starting June 10, KFC will offer Honey BBQ Saucy Nuggets, adding to their lineup that already includes Korean BBQ and Honey Sriracha options since March. The addition of Honey BBQ is aimed at satisfying customer requests for more flavor choices.
While Wendy’s crafted a new barbecue sauce for their nuggets, KFC is using their popular Honey BBQ dipping sauce to coat the nuggets. These new Honey BBQ-tossed nuggets promise a blend of sweet, smoky, and tangy flavors from brown sugar, honey, tomato, and secret spices, all combined with KFC’s signature 11 herbs and spices.
Nick Chavez, KFC’s chief marketing officer, commented, “We’re excited to introduce our popular Honey BBQ sauce on our nuggets in response to customer demand. Our Saucy Nuggets have been well-received, and we’re committed to bringing new flavors to our menu.”
KFC’s Honey BBQ, Korean BBQ, and Honey Sriracha Saucy Nuggets are available in eight-, 10-, and 12-piece options. The pricing is competitive with Wendy’s, so it ultimately comes down to personal preference for chicken nuggets and sauce flavors.
Stay tuned for more “saucy” updates from KFC, as they hint at more flavors in the works. Could a Spicy Ghost Pepper flavor be next? Only time will tell.
