Crosstown Doughnuts Acquired by Former Burger King Franchisee

In a move to ensure the continuity of its operations, Crosstown Doughnuts has been acquired by Karali Snacks Limited.

The acquisition encompasses 27 operational sites, comprising the majority of Crosstown’s stores, market units, kiosks, concessions, and trucks. As part of the deal, 140 staff members, including the senior leadership team, will transition to the new ownership.

Crosstown Doughnuts, co-founded by Adam Wills and JP Then in 2014, is renowned for its richly flavored doughnuts, many of which are priced above £5. From its origins as a street food stall, the brand has evolved into a multi-channel retailer with a presence in London, Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, and Bath.

Among its popular doughnut flavors are Banana Smoothie, Peanut Butter and Blackcurrant, and Pistachio and Rose. Additionally, Crosstown offers delivery services, caters for weddings and events, and distributes its doughnuts in esteemed venues such as Harrods, Whole Foods, and Benugo cafes.

The acquisition comes following Crosstown’s collaboration with Interpath Advisory to explore investment opportunities for sustaining its ongoing operations and fostering future growth.

Karali Snacks Ltd, a division of the multinational food entity Karali Group, has acquired Crosstown. Karali Group, formerly the largest UK franchisee of Burger King” data-wpil-keyword-link=”linked”>Burger King with 74 sites, exited its Burger King operations in 2022. Howard Ebison, who assumed the role of chief executive from Wills last year, will continue to lead Crosstown under the new ownership.

Howard Ebison expressed his enthusiasm for the future of Crosstown under Karali Group, citing the latter’s extensive experience and successful track record in hospitality brand development.

Karim Janmohamed of Karali Group echoed this sentiment, stating their immediate interest in investing in Crosstown and their commitment to further enhancing the brand’s offerings.

Details of the acquisition’s terms were not disclosed. Crosstown recently closed its Brighton café after two years of operation.
