Wendy’s Names New Presidents for U.S. And International Operations

In a strategic move aimed at bolstering growth, The Wendy’s Company has announced the appointment of two key leadership roles within its organization. Abigail Pringle has been named President of U.S. operations, and E.J. Wunsch will take on the role of President, International. These changes will take effect on June 17, 2024.

Abigail Pringle, previously serving as President, International and Chief Development Officer since 2019, has been with Wendy’s since 2002. She has held various leadership positions involving Development, Operations, and Strategic Initiatives.

In her new role as President, U.S., Pringle will oversee all facets of Wendy’s operations in the United States, which encompasses over 6,000 company-operated and franchised restaurants.

E.J. Wunsch, who joined Wendy’s in 2016 as Chief Legal Officer, will now lead the International division. His tenure at Wendy’s has included a focus on strategic international initiatives in regions including Australia, Asia, Europe, and South America. Prior to joining Wendy’s, Wunsch managed a significant legal portfolio at The Procter & Gamble Company, including a four-year assignment in Singapore overseeing operations throughout Asia.

Kirk Tanner, President and CEO of The Wendy’s Company, highlighted the structural changes: “Since joining Wendy’s earlier this year, I’ve evaluated our business strategy and believe that establishing dedicated Presidents for our U.S. and International segments will enhance our growth in key areas such as same-restaurant sales, digital platforms, and new restaurant development.”

Tanner praised the new appointees, stating, “Abigail has been instrumental in developing our restaurant expansion strategy and stabilizing our International business for growth. She will now apply her expertise to advance our U.S. operations. E.J. is a seasoned leader whose global insight and business acumen will undoubtedly foster further expansion and strengthen our market presence internationally.”

Reflecting on her new role, Pringle expressed enthusiasm about her past achievements and future prospects: “Leading our Global Development and International business has been a highlight of my career. I am well-acquainted with our U.S. business and franchisees and am optimistic about the opportunities for increased sales, profits, and growth.”

Wunsch also shared his vision for the international markets, stating, “I see tremendous potential for Wendy’s internationally. I am committed to supporting our franchise and company operations to achieve substantial growth and to expand Wendy’s global footprint.”

These leadership changes are part of Wendy’s broader strategy to accelerate its performance and market expansion both in the U.S. and internationally.
