Teneriffe is set to welcome Donnie’s, a new pizza and cocktail bar offering a taste of New York-style pizza. The highly anticipated spot, founded by two hospitality veterans, is scheduled to open in just a few weeks on Vernon Terrace. Locals can look forward to ultra-crispy pizza slices, delicious snacks, small plates, and cocktails with an Americana twist.
The new venue will occupy one of the last remaining vacant spaces at the Australian Mercantile Land & Finance Woolstores on Vernon Street. Donnie’s will bring a slice of New York to Brisbane, thanks to the vision of Jackson McLoughlin and Nickolas Kruckel, both transplants from Canberra. The duo is eager to introduce the city to the crispy, thin pizzas that define New York pizzerias—pizzas first popularized by the city’s Italian immigrant community.
Brisbane’s pizza scene already boasts a variety of options, including Neapolitan, Roman-style pizza al taglio, and Detroit-style pies. However, McLoughlin believes there is a gap in the market for authentic American, New York-style thin and crispy pizzas. He notes, “There aren’t many proper authentic American or New York-style pizza places in Brisbane. While you’ll find plenty of Italian-inspired, family-run restaurants, we’re doing something different while still offering a high-quality product.”
Donnie’s is set to open between Zero Fox and Rita’s in the space previously occupied by Siffredi’s. Along with its pizza offerings, Donnie’s will feature a selection of small plates, including charcuterie, antipasti, and burrata. The drinks menu will include local beers, an assortment of Italian wines, seasonal spritzes, and cocktails with an American-inspired flair.
The pizza menu will feature about eight core options, with a monthly rotating special featuring seasonal ingredients. One item McLoughlin is particularly excited about is a tomato-based pizza topped with ’nduja, whipped ricotta, and hot honey—a combination he hopes will become a fan favorite.
Donnie’s is slated to open in early to mid-April, and the community is eagerly awaiting its arrival. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic slice or a creative new flavor, Donnie’s promises to deliver a memorable pizza experience.
