Taco Bell Launches Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas

Taco Bell has unveiled its newest menu item, the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas, marking its first major release since the Live Más Live event held earlier this month in New York City.

The Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas are inspired by street-style flavors, a tradition Taco Bell has been exploring for over a decade. The chain first introduced Cantina Tacos in 2010, followed by the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019. Last summer, Taco Bell launched Cheesy Street Chalupas. The new Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas combine the best of both, offering a cheddar-topped shell filled with fresh onions, cilantro, and your choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled marinated steak. The item also features a new Chile Lime Crema Sauce, adding a bold flavor fusion.

The new chalupas were first tested in Houston last August and have now been rolled out nationwide. They are priced starting at $5.49, available for a limited time.

Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell’s Vice President of Product Innovation, highlighted the cultural significance of street tacos, saying, “The street taco is a cultural staple built on bold flavor and quality ingredients, and the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas honor that tradition while bringing in a unique Taco Bell touch that packs even more flavor into every bite. Fans immediately fell in love with the crispy, cheesy bite of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019, and now we’re elevating that street-inspired flavor experience. This is exactly the kind of comeback our fans have been waiting for.”

In addition to the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas, Taco Bell is also offering its Caliente Cantina Chicken Nacho Fries for a limited time at $4.99. The crispy fries are topped with slow-roasted chicken, nacho cheese sauce, fiesta strips, and Taco Bell’s new Caliente Sauce, which was added to the Cantina Chicken menu in February.

At the Live Más Live event, Taco Bell executives announced plans for an accelerated menu rollout this year, aiming to double the pace of their releases in 2024. The focus will include more beverages, crispy chicken options, and innovative variations of the popular Nacho Fries.
