Taco Bell, part of Yum Brands, is set to revolutionize its drive-thru experience by introducing AI-powered ordering. This innovation is made possible through a strategic partnership with Nvidia, a leading technology firm. The rollout will begin in the second quarter of 2025, with approximately 500 Taco Bell locations adopting the system.
Key Features of the Partnership
AI-Driven Ordering: The partnership will enable voice-activated ordering at drive-thrus, enhancing customer convenience and speeding up the ordering process.
Operational Improvements: Beyond voice ordering, Yum Brands plans to leverage AI for operational enhancements. This includes using computer vision to detect order errors and analyzing customer feedback to provide actionable insights for restaurant managers.
Technology Ownership: Joe Park, Yum Brands’ Chief Digital and Technology Officer, emphasized the importance of owning the intellectual property and technology. This approach reduces costs and improves scalability by building systems internally with Nvidia’s technology.
Integration with Byte by Yum Platform
Nvidia’s AI tools will support Yum’s technology team in developing solutions that utilize Nvidia GPUs. These applications will be integrated into Yum’s proprietary ‘Byte by Yum’ platform, enhancing digital operations and customer experience.
