Wendy’s has announced plans to open 1,000 new restaurants around the world by 2028. The announcement was made during the company’s 2025 Investor Day presentation.
Kirk Tanner, Wendy’s President and CEO, expressed confidence in the company’s future, stating, “The Wendy’s brand has tremendous strength, and we will unlock its full potential, scaling our system to match the power of our brand.”
The company is focusing on a global expansion strategy to meet increasing demand for its products worldwide. Recently, Wendy’s celebrated the opening of its 500th restaurant in the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions. The fast food chain also recently launched the first of 200 planned restaurants in Australia.
Wendy’s expansion efforts will also continue in Europe, with new locations planned in Romania, Scotland, and Ireland later this year.
Ken Cook, Wendy’s Chief Financial Officer, highlighted the company’s commitment to growth, saying, “We are investing in building new restaurants around the globe and deploying technology that will enhance the customer experience and increase restaurant profitability.” He added that the goal is to create value for customers, franchisees, and shareholders alike.
By opening the 1,000 new restaurants, Wendy’s aims to increase its global restaurant count to between 8,100 and 8,300 by 2028. Currently, the company operates over 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
In addition to expanding its footprint, Wendy’s is working to update core menu items and has increased investments in technology to improve the overall customer experience.
