Wendy’s has confirmed the opening date for its new location on Watford High Street, marking the American fast food chain’s return to the area.
The fast-food giant recently put up its branding at the former Chipotle unit located at 60 High Street, with an initial announcement stating that the store would open in March 2025. However, the exact date has now been revealed. According to a spokesperson for the company, the new restaurant will open its doors on March 25, 2025.
In a statement to the Watford Observer, the spokesperson said, “Customers can expect fresh food, not frozen, with cooking that cuts no corners. We’re over the moon to be opening in Watford and are looking forward to our launch day.”
Wendy’s, famous for its square-shaped burgers, successfully relaunched in the UK in 2021 after a 22-year absence. The brand offers large American-style portions, including triple cheeseburgers and fries.
This new location in Watford replaces the former Chipotle unit, which closed suddenly in January. Wendy’s previously operated a branch in the town, located at the TGI Friday’s unit directly across from the new site.
Shortly after Chipotle’s closure, a spokesperson for the chain said, “As part of our ongoing operations, we reviewed the performance of our Watford restaurant and made the difficult decision to close the location.”
