A popular US fast food chain, praised for having “the best burgers,” is planning to open 100 sites across the UK in the next few years.
Carl’s Jr., a Californian burger brand, has announced plans to expand in the UK, with the first location set to open next month. Founded in Los Angeles in 1941, the fast food chain now operates over 3,600 restaurants worldwide, both franchised and company-owned.
The first Carl’s Jr. location in the UK will debut in April at the St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff, with plans for a second site in the South of England expected before summer.
David Moffat, the country manager for Carl’s Jr. UK, told Restaurant Online, “We aim for a steady rollout with the goal of opening 100 restaurants in the next four years. We’ll start with corporate stores and also explore the sub-franchise market later this year, as we’ve seen strong interest from large group franchisees.”
The UK menu will feature a streamlined selection, with a focus on burgers, chicken, and fries, making it one of the smallest menus outside the US. The brand is also adapting its offerings to cater to the UK’s diverse tastes. For example, bacon will be removed from chicken burgers to provide halal options for customers.
On social media, fast food lovers are already showing their excitement. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) declared, “Carl’s Jr is the best fast food burger.”
