At the City Council meeting on Monday night, City Administrator Mark Larson shared that McDonald’s has been granted approval to build a new restaurant east of Kwik Trip on Glencoe’s east side. The project, which will not receive any city incentives, is expected to be completed by the end of the current construction season.
Hennepin Avenue Project: Land Purchase and Easements
The council also approved the purchase of a three-acre parcel from Glencoe Regional Health Services for $36,000. This land will be used to construct a stormwater holding pond as part of the Hennepin Avenue reconstruction project. The pond, which is required under the MS4 permit, will help manage stormwater runoff and improve water quality before it flows into Buffalo Creek.
In addition to the land purchase, the council approved both permanent and temporary construction easements along 18th Street and Hennepin Avenue. These easements will address right-of-way discrepancies and allow for utility connections.
The city will share the cost of the land purchase with McLeod County, and the project will also include wetland mitigation for approximately 0.15 acres of affected farmland.
