Taco Bell, the popular Mexican-inspired fast food chain located at the Broad Street Mall in Reading, is seeking to extend its operating hours on weekends. The restaurant, which opened in December 2019, currently serves a range of tacos, nachos, and other fast food items until 11pm daily.
Under its new proposal, Taco Bell hopes to remain open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays to cater to late-night customers. However, the chain requires a premises licence from Reading Borough Council to extend its hours.
A statutory consultation on the application is currently underway, with members of the public invited to share their views.
Feedback can be submitted via email to [email protected], with the deadline set for Monday, March 10.
Taco Bell has been contacted for a comment regarding the extension. The restaurant, which also offers halal meat options, is currently open daily from 10am to 11pm. It occupies the space formerly held by Footlocker and the Eggla Asian food store.
When the restaurant first opened, Lucy Dee, Marketing Lead for Taco Bell UK, highlighted Reading’s vibrant foot traffic, making it an ideal location for the brand. “Reading has a high footfall of those looking for entertainment and of course a bite to eat, providing us with the perfect spot to expand our portfolio in the area,” Dee said. “We look forward to welcoming even more Taco Bell fans and first-timers through our doors.”
