McDonald’s fans of fast food chicken have reason to celebrate as the fast-food giant unveils a new chicken strip item and the highly anticipated return of the beloved Snack Wraps.
New Chicken Strips and Snack Wraps Announced
During its latest earnings call, a McDonald’s spokesperson confirmed the exciting news, revealing that the popular Snack Wraps would be returning to U.S. menus along with other select markets. Additionally, a new chicken strip offering will also be available in the U.S.
McDonald’s CEO, Chris Kempczinski, who first shared the news about the Snack Wraps’ return on Good Morning America in December, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s expanding chicken options. “We’re excited about the potential growth in our chicken portfolio,” Kempczinski stated. “We see an opportunity to capture more market share in the chicken category by the end of 2026.”
Previously, McDonald’s had offered a standalone crispy chicken menu item called Chicken Selects in the early 2000s.
However, Kempczinski did not clarify whether the new chicken strips would resemble the old Chicken Selects or if the name would be revived.
A Look Back at the Snack Wraps
First introduced in 2006, Snack Wraps featured a smaller strip of Chicken Selects wrapped with lettuce, cheese, and special sauce in a soft flour tortilla. The return of this fan favorite is set to reignite nostalgia for many longtime McDonald’s customers.
