Pollo Campero, a popular Central American chicken franchise, has secured a lease for a new restaurant on the West Bank in Marrero, located at 4808 Lapalco Blvd. The location, set to open later this year, marks the latest step in the brand’s growth in the region. Franchisees Diego Ruiz and Mauricio Blanco, who were behind the launch of the first Pollo Campero restaurant in Kenner (2810 Williams Blvd.), are spearheading this expansion.
The new West Bank restaurant is part of a larger agreement to open four more locations across the Greater New Orleans area over the coming years.
Founded in 1971 in Guatemala, Pollo Campero now operates more than 100 locations across the United States and nearly 300 worldwide.
Blas Escarcega, Pollo Campero’s Vice President of Franchise Development, praised Ruiz and Blanco’s dedication and local knowledge. “Their drive and commitment to the brand make Pollo Campero successful,” he said. “Their passion for the brand and deep understanding of the Louisiana market will help expand Pollo Campero into even more neighborhoods in the state.”
Ruiz, who grew up in the restaurant industry, has a strong background with family-owned Mexican restaurants. Blanco brings over eight years of experience with Pollo Campero, contributing valuable strategic insights to the brand’s operations.
According to Ruiz, Pollo Campero enjoys a fiercely loyal customer base. “The brand has a strong legacy, especially among people from Central America—countries like Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. Customers often bring the food back when they travel because they are so proud of it,” Ruiz said.
