In celebration of the Year of the Snake, McDonald’s is launching a limited-edition mahjong set, perfectly timed for Chinese New Year. This exclusive release is part of McDonald’s ongoing 50th anniversary festivities in Hong Kong and offers a nostalgic twist, featuring classic characters such as the Hamburglar, Grimace, Birdie, Mayor McCheese, and the Fry Kids.
The mahjong tiles are designed with a translucent, bright red backing that showcases the fast food giant’s iconic golden arches logo. Each tile features playful renditions of McDonald’s food and beloved mascots, incorporating quirky elements like googly eyes, French fry packets, and even some of the brand’s lesser-known characters. The entire set is housed in an elegant red and gold trunk, adorned with familiar figures from McDonaldland.
Only 1,850 sets will be available, making this a highly collectible item, especially following the success of previous releases like the Hello Kitty mahjong set. Starting from 11 a.m. on January 23, customers can purchase the mahjong set via the McDonald’s app for $988—down from its original price of $1,888. To ensure fairness, each customer is limited to one set. Additionally, each purchase will come with five $20 McDonald’s vouchers.
With only a limited quantity available, fans are encouraged to act fast to secure their piece of McDonald’s history.
