Taco Bell has just added a new item to its menu: Cheesy Dipping Burritos. For just $4.99 (prices may vary by location), you’ll receive two mini burritos filled with melty cheese and your choice of protein. Options include marinated grilled steak or Cantina slow-roasted chicken, the latter of which was a popular addition last summer.
What makes these burritos stand out is their customizable dipping options. You can choose from creamy chipotle, nacho cheese sauce, or reduced-fat sour cream.
As a food editor, I’ve had my fair share of Taco Bell’s sauces. Out of the three dipping choices, my top pick is sour cream. It’s smooth and mild, not overly tangy. The chipotle sauce, with its artificial smokiness, isn’t for everyone (it reminds me of spicy bacon bits), and the nacho cheese might feel repetitive when paired with a cheese-filled burrito. For an added kick, I recommend pairing the sour cream with your favorite hot sauce, like Fire, or a side of Taco Bell’s red sauce, which adds a rich, earthy flavor with just the right amount of spice.
For those looking to indulge a bit more, the Cheesy Dipping Burritos are also available in the Discovery Luxe Box. This bundle includes a crunchy taco, Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos taco, cinnamon twists, and a fountain drink.
