SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Andytown Coffee Roasters, a beloved local coffee chain, is set to open a new café in downtown San Francisco. The latest addition will be located at 747 Front St., with signage indicating the shop is “coming soon.” While an official opening date has yet to be announced, the location is highly anticipated.
Situated near Sydney G. Walton Square Park, the new coffee shop comes at a time when the nearby Starbucks is closing next month, sparking concern among the local senior community. The new café aims to fill the gap left by the closure, offering a fresh option for coffee lovers in the area.
The Front Street location will be Andytown’s sixth café in San Francisco and its seventh overall. It will also be the second downtown location, joining the existing shop at 181 Fremont St. The brand also has a location outside of San Francisco, at 1302 El Camino Real in Menlo Park.
Founded in 2014 by Michael McCrory and Lauren Crabbe in the Outer Sunset district of San Francisco, Andytown Coffee Roasters quickly became a local favorite. In 2017, the chain expanded with a second location on Taraval Street, just a few blocks from the San Francisco Zoo.
With a growing following of more than 25,000 on Instagram, Andytown has become a staple in the city’s coffee culture.
Recently, the chain announced a major change: it will no longer charge extra for plant-based milk options, a move that has been welcomed by its loyal customers.
