The Burger King located at the Kingsway West Retail Park in Dundee is set to extend its hours after receiving approval for a late-night catering license. The fast food chain can now operate between 11pm and 5am, allowing it to provide 24-hour service, though the late-night hours will be limited to the drive-through.
Burger King’s application to Dundee City Council was reviewed by the local authority’s licensing committee during a meeting on Thursday. The company is aiming to capitalize on the busy Kingsway route, which sees traffic throughout the day and night.
Niall Hassard, a lawyer representing Burger King, explained the restaurant’s plan to attract customers who are already in the area. He highlighted the nearby Tesco filling station, which operates 24/7, and noted that many people in the area, including shift workers and emergency service personnel, would benefit from access to the drive-through at late hours.
Hassard emphasized that the company had completed thorough preparations, including special training for managing late-night operations. He also pointed out that similar drive-through businesses in comparable locations have been operating smoothly.
The committee approved the application without any objections, paving the way for Burger King to begin its 24-hour service.
