Burger King is bringing new flavors to the table with two game day-inspired items being tested in Columbus, Ohio. Starting January 9, the fast-food chain is introducing a Game Day Pretzel Whopper and Nacho Chicken Fries, giving fans a taste of tailgating season right at their local Burger King.
For years, Burger King has been a staple in football culture, with catchy jingles like “Bee-kay, have it your way!” and “Whopper, Whopper, Whopper, Whopper” filling the air during NFL and college football broadcasts. Despite this, the chain has never offered special game day menu items—until now.
The Game Day Pretzel Whopper is a twist on the classic Whopper, featuring a 1/4-pound flame-grilled patty and a combination of game day-inspired toppings. These include American cheese, bacon, pickles, nacho cheese, and crispy onions, all served on a SuperPretzel bun. The burger draws inspiration from a favorite game day snack—pretzels with cheese sauce.
Meanwhile, the Nacho Chicken Fries take Burger King’s popular Chicken Fries to the next level. The chicken strips are coated in tortilla chips and served with a side of Nacho Cheese sauce, offering a nacho-inspired twist on a fan favorite.
These new items will be available for a limited time at select Burger King locations in Columbus. Burger King has previously tested menu items in this city that later made it to national menus, including the Impossible Whopper, Mozzarella Fries, and Churro Fries. If the Game Day Pretzel Whopper and Nacho Chicken Fries are successful, they could be available nationwide in the future.
For now, fans in Columbus can check the Burger King app or contact local restaurants to see if the new items are available.
Whether these items will become a regular part of the Burger King menu depends on the outcome of this market test.
