Wendy’s, the US-based fast-food giant, is preparing to open its first store in Australia this month as part of an ambitious expansion plan.
In 2023, the company signed a deal to introduce its iconic restaurants across Australia, with a target of 200 locations by 2034. This follows a successful pop-up event in Sydney, which sparked interest among local consumers.
Speculation is rife on social media about where the first store will open, with many users sharing photos of a potential site on Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise, Queensland. While Wendy’s has not confirmed the exact location or opening date, a December social media post hinted, “See you soon Australia. Arriving January 2025.”
Abigail Pringle, president of The Wendy’s Company, has expressed confidence in the Australian market, calling it “ripe for disruption.” The chain is expected to create thousands of jobs across various cities and suburbs as it expands its presence in the country.
