Taco Bell, known for its ever-evolving menu, has brought back several discontinued items in 2024, delighting fans with a taste of nostalgia. Over the years, the fast food giant has periodically removed fan favorites, only to see customers campaign for their return. This year, Taco Bell has answered those calls by reintroducing a selection of beloved dishes for a limited time.
Among the highlights is the return of the Tostada, a fan-favorite from the past. This classic dish features a crispy Tostada Shell layered with beans, red sauce, lettuce, and shredded cheese. Alongside it, Taco Bell has also revived the Green Sauce Burrito, among other nostalgic items.
One of the most highly anticipated comebacks is the Meximelt, which made its return in October 2024. Originally launched in the ’80s, the Meximelt is a flour tortilla filled with melted beef, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, and a blend of mozzarella and Monterey Jack. Discontinued in 2018, the Meximelt returned exclusively to three Taco Bell locations in Southern California in August 2024, before becoming available nationwide in October. The item is priced at $2.99.
In addition to the Meximelt, the Chili Cheese Burrito also made its grand return. This hearty burrito, which has been absent from most Taco Bell menus since the 1990s, features seasoned beef chili, shredded cheddar, refried beans, crunchy onions, and green sauce, all wrapped in a soft tortilla. Available for $2.19, the Chili Cheese Burrito is part of the chain’s ongoing “Decades Menu,” a collection of items from the past that have captured the hearts of Taco Bell fans.
The Beef Gordita Supreme also returned to Taco Bell’s menu in October 2024. Originally introduced in 1998, this item quickly became a fan favorite before being discontinued in 2001. Now, the Beef Gordita Supreme is back, offering seasoned beef, reduced-fat sour cream, diced tomatoes, lettuce, and a blend of three cheeses—mozzarella, Monterey Jack, and cheddar—wrapped in flatbread. It’s available for $2.99 through Taco Bell’s app or in-store.
Finally, the Caramel Apple Empanada, which was removed from Taco Bell’s menu in 2019, has made a limited-time return. This sweet treat, which first debuted in the early 2000s, features a crispy cinnamon-sugar-coated pastry filled with soft apples and creamy caramel. The Caramel Apple Empanada, which was replaced by the Cinnabon Delights, is available for $2.99 starting in November 2024.
Taco Bell’s 2024 menu revamp highlights the brand’s willingness to listen to its customers, bringing back these iconic items that have stood the test of time. Fans of Taco Bell’s classics are now able to enjoy these treats once more—at least for a limited time.
