Taco Bell has officially opened its second Ipswich location in Ravenswood, marking a significant addition to the town’s fast-food scene. The new restaurant, located in the former Frankie & Benny’s site on Edith Cook Way, opened its doors earlier this week.
The new Taco Bell will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on Tuesdays when it will close earlier at 7 p.m. The establishment is expected to create around 30 new jobs for local residents.
To accommodate a drive-thru service, the building has been slightly downsized, resulting in a reduction in parking spaces.
The drive-thru lane encircles the building, leading to the loss of 28 parking spots. The site now offers 47 standard parking spaces and 20 electric vehicle charging points. Previously, the space housed both Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquito restaurants, which closed in September 2023.
In April, Ipswich Borough Council approved plans to convert the units into drive-thru restaurants. Taco Bell’s application to take over one of the units was approved in September, much to the approval of local community leaders.
The new restaurant joins a number of popular eateries in the area, including McDonald’s, Burger King, Nando’s, Toby Carvery, Harvester, Subway, and Costa Coffee. It is the second Taco Bell in Ipswich, following the opening of the first branch at Anglia Retail Park in October.
