Around 5,000 Starbucks employees in more than 25 states went on strike Tuesday, according to Starbucks Workers United.
The union claims the action disrupted operations at several locations across the U.S.
In a response to ABC News, Starbucks spokesperson Jay Go-Guasch acknowledged the impact but emphasized that the strikes affected only a small portion of the company’s stores. “Approximately 170 Starbucks stores did not open as scheduled,” Go-Guasch said. “With more than 10,000 company-operated stores, 98% of our locations and over 200,000 employees continued to serve customers throughout the holiday period.”
Despite the strike action, the company maintained that the majority of its stores remained open, serving customers as usual.
