Taco Bell has submitted a proposal to open a new drive-thru location in Walnut Creek, city officials confirmed. The fast-food chain is looking to set up shop at the Rossmoor Shopping Center, which serves one of the city’s senior communities.
The proposed Taco Bell would occupy a 1,368-square-foot space at 1998 Tice Valley Blvd., currently home to a Chevron gas station. However, city representatives clarified that the gas station would not be replaced if the drive-thru is approved.
The application, submitted on September 24, is still in the early stages of review, according to a spokesperson from the City of Walnut Creek. While no timeline has been set for a decision, the spokesperson noted that the city has seen an uptick in business applications, meaning the review process may take longer than usual.
The Rossmoor Shopping Center currently houses several businesses, including CVS, Safeway, Mountain Mike’s Pizza, and a Starbucks drive-thru. Taco Bell’s only existing location in Walnut Creek is at 2400 N Main St., with another Taco Bell located about three miles away in Lafayette.
