Plainview residents can expect to welcome two popular fast food chains in 2025, but the wait for the grand openings of Whataburger and Chick-fil-A is set to stretch a bit longer.
Construction is still underway for both locations, and while details about the exact opening dates remain scarce, the two restaurants are taking shape on Olton Road. Whataburger will be situated between Starbucks and Papa John’s, while Chick-fil-A will open further west, across from Kermit Drive, adjacent to Zip’s Car Wash. Both establishments have received the necessary construction permits from the City of Plainview, though they will need to apply for certificates of occupancy once building is complete.
The Whataburger site is expected to see signage installed by the end of the weekend, marking a milestone in the ongoing construction. A source close to the project says that the restaurant is on track to open by March 2025. The new Whataburger will feature dual drive-thru lanes and a redesigned entrance to improve service speed.
Chick-fil-A, meanwhile, has confirmed its plans to open at 4220 U.S. 70 in Plainview in early 2025. A spokesperson for the company told the Herald, “It is our pleasure to confirm we will be opening a new Chick-fil-A restaurant in Plainview in early 2025, pending any delays. We look forward to joining the community and serving all of our guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality.”
Each Chick-fil-A location is operated by a local owner-operator, a model the company says ensures personalized, community-focused service.
