Starbucks, in collaboration with Premium Restaurants of America (PRA), has officially opened its first store in Honduras.
The new location, situated in San Pedro Sula, marks the brand’s 26th market in Latin America and the Caribbean, and its 88th market worldwide. The store opened its doors to customers on December 10, offering a drive-thru service in addition to the in-store experience.
“We are thrilled to open our first Starbucks store in Honduras, a key milestone in our enduring partnership with Starbucks,” said Sofia Flores, Country Manager for Starbucks Honduras. “This new café in San Pedro Sula is only the beginning, as we aim to expand the brand further across Honduras, providing new opportunities for our partners and serving handcrafted beverages to even more customers.”
The store features vibrant artwork inspired by Honduran culture. Inside, a mural by local artist Dalia Balmaceda depicts a coffee farm landscape, showcasing six farmers that represent Honduras’ major coffee-growing regions: Copán, Opalaca, Montecillos, Comayagua, El Paraíso, and Agalta.
To celebrate Honduras’ rich coffee heritage, the café will offer the exclusive Honduras Cafico Reserve, along with local treats like pan catracho and semitas. Exclusive “Been There” mugs reflecting the nation’s coffee culture will also be available.
All 36 employees, or “partners,” working at the San Pedro Sula store were trained in El Salvador for one to three months before the opening. The training focused on delivering the Starbucks Experience and preparing the brand’s signature handcrafted espresso beverages.
Starbucks has long supported local communities in Honduras through The Starbucks Foundation, with a focus on improving access to clean water, empowering women in coffee, and aiding marginalized youth. Recent initiatives include expanding clean water efforts with Planet Water Foundation, empowering over 1,800 women in coffee production through education and entrepreneurship programs, and awarding a $10,000 grant to provide job training for 125 vulnerable youth in Honduras.
“We believe in making a positive impact on the communities we serve,” said Ricardo Arias-Nath, Senior Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean. “This new store in San Pedro Sula is about more than just great coffee. It’s about building meaningful connections with the local community and supporting its growth.”
