Whataburger is set to expand its presence in Central Texas with a new location in Uhland, marking the brand’s first restaurant in the Texas Hill Country. Situated between San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and Lockhart, Uhland is experiencing significant growth, and the new Whataburger is poised to become a key stop for travelers along the I-35 corridor.
The new restaurant will occupy 3,300 square feet inside a convenience store, offering seating for over 60 customers. It will also feature two drive-thru lanes for added convenience. Before opening, the location will undergo a $600,000 build-out, with construction slated to begin in early 2025. The restaurant is expected to open by the second quarter of 2025, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Greg Deter, the franchise owner, explained why Uhland was chosen for the new location. “With the growth between Austin and San Antonio, and the projected population increase over the next decade, this is a great opportunity for us,” he said.
“Uhland’s location, nestled between two major cities, makes it an ideal spot for a Whataburger.”
The town’s proximity to bustling areas like San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, and Lockhart makes it an attractive option for both locals and travelers. With continued population growth and development in surrounding areas, the Whataburger in Uhland is expected to thrive, offering a convenient dining option for people passing through or visiting the Hill Country.
