McDonald’s Australia has launched an exciting new menu item, but it’s only available to local customers. The fast-food giant has partnered with Netflix to bring a thrilling Squid Game experience to its Australian stores.
Starting this week, Aussies will be able to purchase the Macca’s Squid Game Meal and Challenge, inspired by the global sensation Squid Game. The meal includes 10 Chicken McNuggets, accompanied by a limited-edition Korean BBQ Sauce, fries, and a drink. But the fun doesn’t stop there.
Customers will also receive a Dalgona Candy, allowing them to immerse themselves in one of the most nerve-wracking challenges from the hit show. Fans of Squid Game will recognize this candy challenge, where players must carefully cut out a shape from the candy without breaking it—an error on the show comes with dire consequences. Thankfully, Macca’s version is far less intense.
The candy comes in four shapes: a classic circle, triangle, star, and a special Golden Arches ‘M’. Those brave enough to take on the challenge can test their skills when the new meal becomes available on Wednesday, December 11.
But there’s more. Customers who successfully complete the Dalgona Candy challenge will be entered into a draw to win a limited-edition Macca’s and Squid Game Green Player Tracksuit. For those who manage to master the tricky M shape, the prize pool includes a grand reward of $100,000.
The Squid Game Meal will be served in a special-themed box and will be available for four weeks, until Tuesday, January 7, 2025, or while supplies last.
“You’ve seen Squid Game on Netflix, now experience it at Macca’s,” said Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director for McDonald’s Australia. “Whether you’re a collector, planning to binge-watch Squid Game, or simply want to try the candy, this exclusive collaboration is your chance to dive into the action.”
In addition to the meal, fans can test their skills in a real-life Squid Game challenge at the Macca’s Squid Game Sandpit Arena. The pop-up event will take place at World Square in Sydney on Tuesday, December 10, from 11 AM to 6 PM, offering 500 Sydney-siders the chance to compete before the meal’s nationwide release.
This collaboration comes ahead of the eagerly awaited season two of Squid Game, which will drop on Boxing Day.
The Macca’s Squid Game Meal and Challenge will be available nationwide from December 11, 2024, through January 7, 2025.
