A new Taco Bell restaurant is set to open at Westwood Cross on December 11. This location will feature a dining area with 30 seats and offer takeaway services. It will occupy the former Debenhams building, joining other businesses such as Hollywood Bowl, Riparo, and Jump INC.
The opening of this Taco Bell is expected to create 20 new jobs, consisting of 8 full-time and 12 part-time positions. The local district council granted planning permission for the restaurant in September.
Taco Bell, which originated in California in 1962, has grown into a global brand with over 8,200 locations in more than 32 countries. The menu will include a variety of items such as tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and burritos.
Currently, Taco Bell has nearby restaurants in Dover, Folkestone, and Canterbury. The new Westwood Cross location will operate daily from 11 AM to 11 PM and is situated next to the Riparo Lounge.
This new outlet marks Taco Bell’s first branch in Thanet. Previously, residents had to travel to other towns to enjoy the brand’s offerings.
The Westwood Cross site has been undergoing transformation since the closure of Debenhams, which was purchased by Boohoo in early 2021. Boohoo announced it would not keep any remaining Debenhams stores open after nearly 250 years of trading.
Since then, the space has been divided into various units for different brands. With the addition of Taco Bell, customers can look forward to more dining options in the area.
