Whataburger, the beloved fast food chain that originated in Texas, is set to make its debut in Knoxville, Tennessee. The company, which has expanded into a national brand with over 1,000 locations, will open two new restaurants in East Tennessee, including one in Knoxville and another in Chattanooga. These locations are expected to launch in 2025, although specific site details and opening dates have not yet been disclosed.
Currently, Tennessee is home to 23 Whataburger restaurants. The chain recently entered the Nashville market with ten new locations that opened between 2022 and 2023. The planned expansion into East Tennessee is part of Whataburger’s broader strategy to grow its presence in the Southeast, which includes recent announcements of new sites across the Carolinas.
Founded in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950, Whataburger has grown to become one of the largest fast food chains in the United States. The upcoming Knoxville location marks another significant step in the company’s ongoing expansion efforts.
