Wendy’s, the popular US fast food chain, is set to enter the Irish market, promising to create approximately 300 jobs. The company has partnered with Corrib Oil, a service station and energy firm, to establish its franchise in Ireland.
Over the next three years, from 2025 to 2027, Corrib plans to open ten Wendy’s locations across the country. The specific sites will be announced in early 2025 and will include both standalone restaurants and Wendy’s outlets at existing Corrib service stations.
A recruitment campaign for the new positions will kick off in early 2025. Wendy’s is recognized for its made-to-order square hamburgers, chicken dishes, and salads. The company has committed to sourcing 100% of its beef from Irish suppliers and aims to use local ingredients whenever possible.
Headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, Wendy’s operates over 7,200 restaurants worldwide, with more than 1,200 located outside the United States. EJ Wunsch, President of International Operations at Wendy’s, expressed confidence in the partnership with Corrib Oil. He stated that Ireland presents a significant opportunity for Wendy’s long-term growth.
Wunsch noted that Corrib Oil has a strong operational history and is well-positioned for this expansion. Currently, Corrib Oil runs 38 convenience stores across 17 counties and employs about 1,150 people. This number is expected to rise to 1,450 with the addition of Wendy’s staff.
Eugene Dalton, Chief Executive of Corrib Oil, emphasized the synergy between the two brands. He highlighted that introducing Wendy’s to Ireland will provide a fresh dining experience for customers while reinforcing their shared commitment to quality and exceptional service.
