Starbucks is set to kick off the holiday season with the release of its 2024 festive cups, starting on November 7. The iconic coffee chain has become synonymous with holiday cheer, and this year’s cup designs promise to continue that tradition.
Over the weekend, Starbucks shared a sneak peek of the new cup designs through a video posted on its Instagram and TikTok accounts.
The clip features four graphic designers showcasing their creations, which incorporate vibrant colors like red, green, and pink—colors that evoke the spirit of the holidays. The designers explained their inspiration and expressed their excitement about unveiling the new designs to fans.
Kristy Cameron, Starbucks’ creative director, led the design team this year. She stated that the cups are inspired by “authentic moments of happiness,” aiming to capture the warmth of Starbucks coffeehouses during the holiday season. The central theme for this year’s designs is “Merrier Together,” which reflects the overall holiday promotion.
The color palette includes Starbucks’ signature green and cranberry red, complemented by soft pastel shades reminiscent of fondant icing.
Cameron highlighted a lively jade green that appears in four out of five designs, emphasizing its joyful presence.
Each cup features unique graphics:
Warm Wishes: This design showcases interconnected circles that symbolize holiday lights and moments spent enjoying coffee together.
Joyful Connection: Inspired by the coffee roasting process, this cup features circular patterns reminiscent of cooling trays used in Starbucks’ upscale Roastery locations.
Lyrical Landscape: This design incorporates vibrant lines that evoke holiday ribbons and beautifully wrapped gifts.
Siren Chorus: Inspired by sunlight patterns on coffee beans, this cup reflects graceful lines reminiscent of the Starbucks siren logo.
Additionally, there will be a special Holiday Cold Cup featuring festive white prints designed to add cheer to cold beverages.
Starbucks has noted that iced drinks now account for approximately 75% of their sales.
The upcoming holiday menu will also introduce new items, including a cranberry drink from the Refresher series, a turkey Danish, a snow cake pop, and a penguin-shaped cookie.
Starbucks began its tradition of seasonal cups in 1997. After facing criticism in 2015 for simplifying their designs by removing traditional holiday symbols, they have since reintroduced decorative elements to enhance their festive appeal.
As excitement builds for the release of these new cups on November 7, Starbucks fans can look forward to celebrating the holiday season with their favorite beverages in these beautifully designed cups.
